Moment of Silence Today for Ft. Hood

Richard Longoria

WASHINGTON (AP) - Secretary of Defense Robert Gates has declared
a moment of silence for U.S. military forces worldwide as a show of
respect for the Fort Hood victims.

The moment of silence is planned for 2:34 p.m. EST Friday -
exactly 24 hours after the shooting in Texas. All U.S. forces
worldwide are being asked to participate in the show of respect.

A spokesman says Gates has no immediate plans to travel to Fort
Hood.

Army Chief of Staff George Casey and Army Secretary John McHugh
arrived at the base Friday.

I am so sorry for the victims of this horrible tragedy. Their families will miss their loved ones & we will miss our heros. They only wanted to improve the quality of life for others they have never met. As for the shooter why didnt anyone has council with him. Who helps these councelors with their own issues. Surely they are plenty...I hope this never happens again at any installation. We Pray for all our soldiers.

Some are calling this tragic occurance due to loose gun control laws. Absolute farce! I work at NASCC and there are no privately owned guns allowed on base or for that matter any US base. This is due to lack of followup of obvious warning signs displayed by this individual.
