WAXAHACHIE, Texas (AP) - The principal of a school that taught a lesson on the Holocaust by dividing students into "Jews" and "German citizens" today denied reports of assaults.

The exercise happened in the Waxahachie (wahks-uh-HATCH'-ee) Ninth Grade Academy's Advanced Placement Geography course.

Some students told Dallas-Fort Worth television station K-T-V-T that the pretend Jews were physically assaulted by the pretend Germans.

School officials say the exercise was meant to bring home the reality of intolerance and a mob mentality during the Holocaust.

K-T-V-T reports some students say the incidents included spitting and pushing.

But Principal John Aune (ON'-ee) says he's received no such reports -- and nobody was hurt.

He says the students who spoke to the T-V station were relaying secondhand reports.

Waxahachie is about 30 miles south of Dallas.
