LOS ANGELES (AP) - A Houston cardiologist hired to be Michael Jackson's personal physician is charged with involuntary manslaughter in the pop singer's death. Dr. Conrad Murray was with Jackson when he died June 25. Murray's attorney says the doctor will plead not guilty.
VICTORIA, Texas (AP) - Prosecutors say a teenager killed the 76-year-old founder of a popular San Antonio restaurant with an arrow before setting the house ablaze and going on a spending spree with her credit cards. Joe Estrada Jr. lived next door to Viola Barrios, the matriarch of the popular Los Barrios and La Hacienda de los Barrios restaurants. His capital murder trial began today.
KINGMAN, Ariz. (AP) - A judge has granted a defense request to bar evidence seized in the raid of a polygamous sect in Texas from being used in polygamist leader Warren Jeffs' trial in Arizona. Both sides agreed that no evidence from the 2008 raid on the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints compound in Eldorado (ehl-doh-RAY'-doh), will be used directly or indirectly in the Arizona case.
McALLEN, Texas (AP) - A Border Patrol spokesman says agents patrolling the Rio Grande in south Texas fired rounds into Mexico after their boat was "bombarded" by objects from the Mexican side. Jose Trevino says agents feared for their safety. The incident happened near the border city of McAllen.
