The family of Priscilla Leal continues to wait by her side, hopeful for a speedy recovery. Council woman Leal was found on the floor in her home on Friday morning by her husband who then called 911. She was flown from Corpus Christi Medical Center-Doctors Regional to the Valley for treatment.
Leal remains in critical but stable condition after undergoing surgery at a hospital in Harlingen.
Zarron Gonzalez, Leal's nephew said, "it's been tough. It caught us out of left field. We're dealing with it as best we can, but the support ... the outreach is awesome and it's tremendous."
Her family says she is waking up and squeezing their hands. They say the next few days are the most critical.
Her family says they have been getting a lot of phone calls from people asking how they can help or donate. Right now they say they are mainly asking for prayers, but if you do feel like helping with her medical costs, the family has set up a bank account at Navy Army under the name Priscilla and Martin Leal. The account number is 58602.
