Victim in Friday Night Double Shooting Identified by Medical Examiner

The victim in a double shooting that happened Friday night on the 2900 block of Easley Street has been identified as 26-year old Mario Colchado Garcia, according to the Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office.

Police say it was 26-year old Jesus Ruben Garcia who shot and killed Mario Garcia, as well as shooting his wife on Friday night. When officers arrived at the scene, they saw Garcia driving off and quickly gave pursuit, resulting in a high-speed chase.

At one point, police say speeds reached over 100 miles per hour.

The suspect pulled over just south of the Sarita checkpoint and fled into the brush on foot. Several agencies joined in the search. At around 7 a.m. Saturday, Garcia called 911 saying he was lost in the brush, and that's how police found him.
