Victor Sanchez Sentenced to Maximum of 35-Years in Prison

A deadlocked jury in the 214th District Court came to an agreement Thursday afternoon while deliberating the punishment for Victor Sanchez, a former Family Dollar employee who sexually assaulted a five-year old.

Sanchez was sentenced 25-years in prison for one count of aggravated assault, and 35-years in prison for aggravated sexual assault of a child. Both sentences will be served concurrently, meaning Sanchez received a maximum of 35-years in prison.

Deliberations began Wednesday afternoon after Sanchez was found guilty of aggravated sexual assault of a child. Following the punishment phase of the trial, jurors began deliberating the sentence until they left for the night.

The deliberating began again Thursday morning, but the jurors were still deadlocked. Judge Jose Longoria eventually issued an Allen Charge, which basically urges the jurors to continue deliberating until they can reach an agreement.

After an agreement was reached, the State requested that both sentences be served consecutively, for a maximum of 60 years in prison, but Judge Longoria ruled that the sentences will be served concurrently.
