Vietnam Veteran Honored by Throwing out the First Pitch at a Hooks Game

He first caught our attention during a recent Hooks baseball game when he threw out the first pitch.  Today we are honoring an 87 year old man who has seen the world and three wars.  His name is Andrew Jackson Adams Junior. He now lives in Ingleside, but his Navy career began back in 1944.

3 News asked, "do you ever think about the fact that you were in 3 war zones around the world?" Adams said,"well I didn't give it much thought really. I didn't do it because I had to, but because I wanted to. It was an honor to do it. I wish I was 18. I'd go again."

We met up with Adams following this past Thursday's Hooks game in which he threw out the first pitch.  A veteran, he served honorably for 22 years plus another 8 in the reserves.  Now he proudly represents veterans in the coastal bend. Andrew recently went and visited the Veteran's Memorial dedication in Austin and Washington D.C. and he says that he's happy that Vietnam Veterans are finally being honored.
