Vietnam Veterans Gather for 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War

The Veterans Band, along with the local chapter of Vietnam Veterans of America, celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War Friday morning at the Nueces County Courthouse.

The veterans answered the roll call and celebrated and remembered fallen heroes in a special ceremony, which many would say was a moving experience.

"I was standing in a group of very special people," veteran Paul Earles said. "People that are willing to take time to defend this country. Given the same information, I would imagine that almost 100-percent of these who are here would go again today."

"It's a great honor to see all these veterans that showed up today, to show us support, that we need to remember the battle, the war in Vietnam, and it's a great honor to be with all these comrades," veteran Roy Longoria said.

"It is a good time when the veterans gather to remember those we lost, that didn't make it home, and to celebrate the living that are still with us today," veteran Amado Gonzales said.
