Woman Allegedly Assaulted by Ex-Boyfriend in Southside Apartment Complex

One man was arrested just after midnight Thursday after patrol officers responded to the sound of a woman's screams coming from an apartment complex in the 5700 block of Timbergate Drive. Police say the woman was being assaulted by her ex-boyfriend.

It was around 12:40 a.m. when police heard the screams coming from the north end of the apartment complex. When they arrived at the scene, they found a 32-year old female who said her boyfriend had assaulted her. She told police she had broken up with him earlier in the day and had left their apartment. When she returned, she was locked out for about an hour before he finally let her inside.

That's when 29-year old Kellen Sirrine allegedly grabbed her by the neck and threw her to the ground, according to the victim. She told police that she tried to get away to call the police, but he grabbed her phone and threw it outside. When she went to retrieve it, she said Sirrine assaulted her again, picking her up and throwing her against a wall.

Police say the victim suffered several bruises and scratches, as well as a cut on her foot, but refused medical assistance. Sirrine was arrested for assault and interfering with an emergency call.
