Woman Arrested for Shooting, Killing Husband in Front of Home

A pregnant woman was arrested early Thursday morning after allegedly shooting her husband to death in the 200 block of Edwards Street, making it the city's eighth homicide this year.

It was around 1 a.m. when police officers found 52-year old Pete Molina dead in front of the home that he shared with his wife, 41-year old Susan Salcido, who was arrested and charged with murder.

According to police, they were called out to the scene by Salcido, who told them over the phone that she had shot someone.

The couple's landlord, Carol Buenteo, said they had introduced themselves as husband and wife. She believed Molina had recently gone in to have hernia surgery and was off work at the time.

"He was one of the nicest persons I've ever met, you know. He could fix everything. He pays his rent, just like that, but he was such a nice guy, you know. I was just so sad," Buenteo said. "And she was very sweet, too. I mean, I enjoyed talking to her. I thought I was in a dream, you know. I couldn't believe these two people who were so nice but, you know, you never know what will happen behind closed doors."

There had never been any complaints from neighbors about the couple since they had moved into the home two months earlier.
