Woman Dies in Single-Car Accident Near Port and Morgan

A 62-year old Corpus Christi woman was killed in a single-car accident on Morgan and Port after flipping her vehicle and being partially ejected.

The accident happened just before 2 a.m. near the intersection of Morgan and Port. Investigators said the woman lost control of her vehicle, striking a utility pole, a fire hydrant and a tree before flipping the car over. The vehicle ended up in a private parking lot.

The woman was identified as Maria Teresa Hernandez. According to the Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office, the cause of death was blunt head trauma.

Investigators said the driver was not wearing a seatbelt.
