Woman Struck by Vehicle While Crossing Saratoga Boulevard

A 53-year old woman is in critical but stable condition after she was struck by a vehicle while crossing Saratoga near Everhart just after 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Police said the woman had just left HEB Plus on Saratoga and was carrying her groceries home. She was just a few yards away from the crosswalk when she attempted to cross the street. That's when she was hit by a black Ford Mustang.

A 21-year old driver of that Mustang tried to swerve out of the woman's path, but was unable to avoid hitting her. Witnesses pulled over to shield the woman from traffic as the driver of the Mustang tried to comfort the woman by wrapping her in a blanket.

When police arrived at the scene, they closed off the eastbound lanes of Saratoga as paramedics tended to the woman. At last report, the woman had a broken shoulder but suffered non life-threatening injuries. She was taken to Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital.

Police said the driver of the black Mustang will not face any charges.
