Workers Evacuated as Police Respond to Bomb Threat Near Airport

Several people were evacuated from a work site near the Corpus Christi International Airport Friday morning as the Corpus Christi Police Department responded to a bomb threat.

According to police, the threat was called in to the new U.S. Coast Guard building at the airport. The project foreman received a call from a person saying there was a bomb in the building. The foreman promptly cleared the building and called the police.

Police arrived at around 7:30 a.m. and closed down nearby roads, bringing K-9 units and the bomb squad to sweep the building. The K-9s were alerted to a box, but the bomb squad confirmed that the box was not a threat.

Airport traffic was not disrupted by the threat. Police said the case is still under investigation.
