CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII NEWS) - A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Monday morning at the American Bank Center as Corpus Christi's newest professional indoor arena football team, the Corpus Christi Rage, announced their new season and met with local supporters.

The Corpus Christi Rage will begin its first season with the Arena Development League in March of 2017. During Monday's ribbon cutting ceremony, their logo and team colors were announced, and owners answered questions about the new franchise.

Although this has been tried in the past, the Rage said this team is going to be different.

"With this team, we'll be more disciplined. More focused on what we need to do on and off the field," General Manager Leonard Harris said.

"The thing that's going to makes us different is that we are going to do everything professional, and in a professional manner," majority owner Eric Smith said.

The owner said the team is privately funded and along with winning, family and community involvement are its main goals.
