CORPUS CHRISTI (KIII SPORTS) - Texas A&M-Corpus Christi fell to the Lumberjacks 87-68 in a Valentine's Day showdown on Wednesday night.
Kareem South tipped off the night with a lay-up that started a run of three pointers by Joseph Kilgore and Deion Rhea. Deion Rhea was hot on the night shooting seven for 10 and 50 percent beyond the arc.
The Islanders came out swinging with a three pointer by Deion Rhea in the eighteenth minute. Rhea's points were followed by three jumpers; all scored by Kareem South.
Kareem South dropped 20 points on the Jacks to fall just three points short of his season-high. His seven rebounds were also a team-high, as the sophomore shot 58.3% from the field
• Deion Rhea scored a career high 20-points in addition to a board and a pair of assists. He was seven for 10 and shot 50 percent beyond the arc
• Joseph Kilgore came just short of a double-double, tallying nine points and eight assists on the night
• Myles Smith tied his career high total assists with five. The last time he recorded that many was against Georgia on November 19th
The Islanders travel to Beaumont to take on Lamar for a rematch from the Southland Conference home opener back in December. The last time the Islanders met up with the Cardinals, Sean Rhea scored a career-high 17 points and senior Joe Kilgore recorded this season's first double-double.
