Javelinas notch critical sweep of Cameron towards playoff hopes

KINGSVILLE (Kiii Sports) - It was a solid night for both the Texas A&M-Kingsville men and women as the Javelinas swept a double-header with visiting Cameron.

The men beat the Aggies in the nightcap 76-64 and sit in the 7th seed in the Lone Star Conference standings. Marcus Ford lead the way with 18 points as A&M-Kingsville outscored Cameron 46-33 after trailing by one at the half.

Javelinas coach Pete Peterson welcomed back Cameron coach Wade Alexander, one of his assistants in Kingsville back in 2004. Alexander didn't exactly have a pleasant homecoming as he was ejected late in the game.

The women notched a big win earlier in the night 86-65 over the Aggies. The Javelinas were lead by Amanda Haven's 16 points and 14 from Meagan Barlow. A&M-Kingsville tied Eastern New Mexico for the 8th and final playoff spot in the Lone Star Conference standings.
