Javelinas use dual QBs in opener, more to come?

KINGSVILLE (Kiii Sports) - Texas A&M-Kingsville coach Bo Atterberry says he used two quarterbacks in the Javelinas' opener to see who could produce in certain situations come conference lay. Whatever the reason, it worked in a 21-10 win at Central Washington.

Junior Nate Poppell got the starting nod, but had mixed results, going 6-17 for 47 yards and no scores. Former Sinton Pirate Daniel Ramirez came in and looked impressive, going 8-13 for 129 yards with a touchdown and an interception. But it was Poppell who took the field on the game-clinching drive in the 4th quarter which saw receiver Robert Armstrong score on an end-around.

The Javelinas return home to Kingsville this week for the home opener Saturday night against Minot State.
