NCAA Makes Notice of Inquiry on Islander AthleticsMay 6, 2008 Texas A&M-Corpus Christi has confirmed that the University's Athletics program is under investigation by the NCAA. The NCAA is currently reviewing possible rules violations that date back to 2004. Neither the University nor the NCAA would identify the nature of the violations or the sports in which they are alleged to have occurred. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi President Flavius Killebrew issued a short statement reacting to the NCAA inquiry. "We take this inquiry very seriously, and the University is cooperating fully to support the NCAA in its ongoing inquiry." President Killebrew has appointed a committee to work with the NCAA's enforcement staff and outside consultants during the inquiry. Texas A&M-Corpus Christi is expected to file a formal response to the allegations by June 1st. |
