Former Corpus Christi Rayz hockey star Jason Baird remains hospitalized today in the Akron, Ohio Burn Center after an accident involving a riding lawn mower last night in Youngstown, Ohio.

Baird, who spent parts of four seasons with the Rayz before being traded to Youngstown last fall, was working a summer job with a Youngstown landscaping company when the accident occurred. Witnesses say a mower Baird was riding while cutting grass at the Westchester Apartments exploded. Family members say Jason was burned over 70% of his body, but is in stable condition.

Baird had signed to play hockey for Muskegon, Michigan in the International Hockey League just last week.
