Javelinas' season ends in double OT classic

KINGSVILLE--Texas A&M-Kingsville and Tarleton St. squared in a playoff battle that will be remembered by both sides for years to come, and in the end it was the Javelinas that saw their season come to an end. The Texans won it 57-56 in double overtime thanks to a 2 point conversion by quarterback Scott Grantham. Grantham crossed the plane for the game winner just moments after scoring a touchdown on one of the best plays of the year in Division II. The Texans were faced with a 4th and 5 from the 20 yard line, and Grantham somehow kept his knee from hitting the ground before spinning his way into the endzone. The Javelinas got another monster game from junior running back Fred "Hollywood" Winborn. Winborn racked up 223 yards and 4 touchdowns on 35 carries, including the go ahead score in the second OT. A&M-Kingsville came close to advancing themselves if not for a game-tying 64 yard field goal by Texans' kicker Garrett Lindholm as time expired at the end of regulation. The 64 yarder was a new Division II playoff record. The Javelinas' season comes to an end at 9-3 while Tarleton St. advances to take on number one Central Washington.
