CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Ryan Newman has been penalized by NASCAR
because his car failed post-race inspection at Texas Motor
Speedway.
Newman was docked 25 points, car owner Roger Penske was docked
25 points and crew chief Roy McCauley was fined $25,000 and placed
on probation until the end of the year because the No. 12 Dodge was
too high following Newman's fourth-place run.
The penalty drops Newman from eighth to 10th in the Sprint Cup
standings.
