WIMBLEDON, England (AP) - The top seeds in the men's and women's
draw moved into the third round on Day 3 at Wimbledon in different
fashion.
It took French Open champion Ana Ivanovic (ee-VAN'-oh-vihch)
nearly three and a-half hours to dispose of upset-minded Nathalie
Dechy (NAT'-uh-lee DEH'-shee) 6-7, 7-6, 10-8. The 20-year-old Serb
fended off two match points in the second set to remain alive in
the women's draw.
Two-time Wimbledon winner Serena Williams had an easier time.
The sixth seed topped Urszula Radwanska (rahd-VAHN'-skuh) 6-4, 6-4.
Fourth-seeded Svetlana Kuznetsova (kooz-NET'-suh-vuh) also won
in straight sets, as did 2007 finalist Marion Bartoli.
Amelie Mauresmo (AM'-ih-lee muh-REHZ'-moh), the 2006 champion,
recovered to win 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 over Virginia Ruano Pascual.

Men's top seed Roger Federer beat fellow Swede Robin Soderling
6-3, 6-4, 7-6 for his 61st straight win on grass. Soderling did,
however, achieve something no other player has accomplished against
Federer on grass this season -- breaking the Swiss star's serve
once.
Federer's victory followed that of Marat Safin (mah-RAHT'
SAH'-fihn), who upset third-seeded Australian Open champion Novak
Djokovic (dih-YOHK'-uh-vich) 6-4, 7-6, 6-2. That makes Federer's
quest for a sixth straight Wimbledon crown a bit easier. The two
were seeded to meet in the semifinals.

  • I liked Brass: hotel, apts, ice rink.
  • No on Brass, Yes on Swim Center/hotel
  • Just rennovate the Coliseum as it was.
  • Tear it down and build a park.
