Prescott Opens Camp Under Center for the First Time

The Cowboys opened the 2017 training camp with Dak Prescott under center, a stark contrast from last season where he opened as the third-string QB.

OXNARD, CA (USA TODAY) - It’s been an offseason of the strangest things for the Dallas Cowboys, but finally preparation for the new season is underway. Training camp practices commence on Monday, and with it, the entire world is anticipating what the 2017 season will behold. USA Today is certainly all-in, and have released their predictions for the records of each NFL team, plus playoff performances. They have the Cowboys becoming the first NFC East team in over a decade to defend their division crown.

Dallas Cowboys (11-5): The league should be ready for Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott — assuming he isn’t suspended — this time around; that celebrated O-line is breaking in two new starters; and the defense could be a hot mess. Still, there’s no denying this club’s offensive firepower. The Cowboys play four of their five November games at home, a good point to make a move in the standings.

Is another perfect season on the horizon? It is if the predictions of Nate Davis come true. The New England Patriots are defending Super Bowl champions and had an offseason where they landed several high-profile free agents to augment their already impressive roster. Thanks to a rotation schedule between conferences, the Patriots get to avoid the NFC East, which is the only division in the predictions not to have two or more teams at or below .500.

The Giants will finish 10-6, followed by the Eagles at 9-7 and Washington tumbling to 5-11 thanks to the giant cluster that has developed around the Kirk Cousins contract situation.

Cowboys fans shouldn’t get all warm and fuzzy about the USA Today predictions. They have Dallas finishing as the NFC’s third seed, thereby being in the wild card round. Their opponent? The New York Giants, who USA Today has coming into AT&T Stadium and upsetting the Cowboys.
