As expected, Ray High School moved down to Class 4A when the University Interscholastic League announced its biennial realignment and reclassification on Friday morning.
The Texans joined fellow CCISD members Miller and Moody in District 30-4A. That district also includes Beeville Jones, Gregory-Portland, Port Lavaca Calhoun, and Rockport.
Alice, Calallen, Flour Bluff, Tuloso-Midway and Kingsville remained in District 31, which now includes Laredo Cigarroa, Laredo Johnson, and Laredo Nixon.
The two other CCISD high schools, Carroll and King, remained in District 27-5A, but will face a much tougher football lineup that includes perennial state power Converse Judson, Converse Wagner, San Antonio East Central, San Antonio Highlands, and Victoria.
Robstown moved down from Class 4A to Class 3A and will join an enlarged District 31-3A. That eight team district also includes Aransas Pass, Falfurrias, Ingleside, Mathis, Orange Grove, Sinton, and West Oso.
The Coastal Bend's 13 Class 2A schools will be spread out over three different districts for the next two years.
Banquete, Odem, Refugio, Skidmore-Tynan, and Taft will join Bloomington in District 30-2A.
Freer, George West, and Three Rivers will combine with Cotulla, Dilley, Jourdanton, and Natalia to form District 31-2A.
District 32-2A will consist of Bishop, Donna Idea Academy, Hebbronville, Premont, Riviera Kaufer, San Diego, Santa Maria, and Santa Rosa.
Woodsboro will again play in District 31-A along with Charlotte, Falls City, Pettus, Runge, and Yorktown.
Agua Dulce, Ben Bolt, Benavides, Bruni, Kingsville Academy, and La Villa will comprise District 32-A.
These new alignments will take affect this fall and will remain in place through the 2009-2010 school year.
