Rhodes hearing postponed..Buckeyes eyeing number one..Nash returns
Suns to normalcy
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Dominic (dahm-ihn-EEK') Rhodes's initial
court appearance on a drunken driving charge has been postponed to
Monday because prosecutors did not receive paperwork from the
arresting officer. The Indianapolis Colts running back, who becomes
a free agent at the end of this month, was arrested by an Indiana
state trooper early yesterday and released on his own recognizance
later in the day.
UNDATED (AP) - Number-two Ohio State is the highest ranked of
the eleven top 25 teams scheduled for action tonight. The
Big-Ten-leading Buckeyes will host the last-place Nittany Lions of
Penn State.
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) - After 81 years of war paint and feathered
headdresses, the University of Illinois' controversial American
Indian mascot is performing his last dance. Chief Illiniwek
(ih-LYN'-ih-wehk), whose fate was decided by school officials last
week at the not-so-gentle urging of the N-C-A-A, will take center
stage at Assembly Hall for one final performance tonight during the
men's basketball game between Illinois and Michigan.
UNDATED (AP) - Phoenix versus visiting Boston is one of eleven
games on this evening's N-B-A schedule. Two-time defending league
M-V-P Steve Nash returned to the Suns' lineup last night after
missing four starts with an inflamed shoulder and Phoenix snapped a
three-game losing skid with a road win over the L-A Clippers,
improving the league's second-best record to 40-and-13.
UNDATED (AP) - The Washington Capitals will be out to end a
four-game losing streak tonight when they host the San Jose Sharks.
The only other game on the N-H-L slate has the Chicago Blackhawks
visiting the Central Division rival Detroit Red Wings.
