Cowboys pick up Jones

NEW YORK (AP) - Running back Felix Jones is heading to Dallas
after being taken by the Cowboys with the 22nd pick in the NFL
draft.
Jones made the most of his 133 carries last season while sharing
the Arkansas backfield with Darren McFadden. Jones ran for 1,162
yards and 11 touchdowns, averaging 8.7 yards per carry to lead the
nation among running backs with more than 100 attempts.
Jones also was productive as a sophomore in 2006, averaging 7.6
yards per carry while rushing 154 times for 1,168 yards and six
TDs. He started nine games at flanker his last two seasons,
grabbing 31 passes for 283 yards and 3 scores. Jones also was a
kickoff threat, averaging 29.6 yards and scoring two touchdowns on
22 returns.
Jones has excellent acceleration and can get the tough yards, as
he did during the Razorbacks' upset win over LSU last November. He
owns terrific lateral quickness and a great initial burst, but he
needs to add bulk to his 5-foot-10, 207-pound frame.
