Chicago RB Benson arrested on intoxicated boating charge

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Authorities say Chicago Bears running back
Cedric Benson failed a sobriety test while operating a 30-foot boat
with 15 passengers on it in Austin, Texas.
Officials say Benson also resisted arrest before being hit with
pepper spray and dragged ashore by officers.
Benson faces charges of boating while intoxicated and resisting
arrest after the incident last night on Lake Travis.
Benson was released from jail early today on a $14,500 bond. A
call to Benson's agent was not immediately returned.
The 25-year-old Benson has done little since the Bears took him
with the fourth pick of the 2005 draft.
He's had legal problems before -- having faced a misdemeanor
trespassing charge in 2003 and misdemeanor drug and alcohol charges
in 2002 that were dropped.
