Thirty-two campuses in the region to be honored for "Distinguished School" designation…
The Education Service Center, Region 2 (ESC-2) is proud to announce 32 schools in 18 districts have been designated as Title I, Part A Distinguished Schools for the 2010-2011 school year. This prestigious designation comes from the Texas Education Agency and is awarded to schools that consistently demonstrate strong academic performances over a three-year period. All of these Title, I, Part A schools achieved the Academically Exemplary rating for the present school year and have a residing population of 40% or more low income students.
The Distinguished School designation has two tiers: Distinguished Performance schools have achieved a minimum accountability rating of Recognized tor the two previous school years, and a rating of Exemplary for the current school year; Distinguished Progress schools increased their rating from either Academically Unacceptable or Acceptable two years ago, to Recognized or Exemplary last year and Exemplary this year.
To honor these 32 campuses for the excellent work they are doing for Title I, Part A student populations, the ESC-2 will be hosting an award ceremony on Wednesday, May 18, 2011, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the ESC-2 facility in Downtown Corpus Christi. The 32 schools receiving the honor this year are:
