Rockport Drug Bust Uncovers Stolen Property

Posted: Updated:

ROCKPORT (Kiii News) - Aransas County deputies uncover thousands of dollars' worth of stolen property and heroine inside a house outside Rockport.

Sheriff's deputies got a search warrant after a Crimestoppers tip. Several homes were broken into a few weeks back. 23-thousand dollars' worth of property was reported stolen.

Deputies found some of those items while executing a search warrant. Power tools, guns, fishing gear and equipment were recovered. But along with the stolen loot, detectives seized a significant amount of heroine.

Deputies believe Jason Garcia, the man who lives in the house, was dealing the dope. He faces several charges including burglary and illegal possession of a firearm.

Aransas County Sheriff Bill Mills says "this afternoon is proof we've recovered property from several burglaries and narcotics. As well so they're trading dope, they're trading stolen property. One drives the other. Its not a single front, but we're trying to attack it on both ends.>

After the investigation is finished folks who own the property will be able to get their belongings back.
