CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) - With the sun beating down on all of us, why not take advantage of all that energy. The folks at the art museum sure have.
They flipped the switch on their new 25-kilowatt solar array. The system is made up of more than 100 large solar panels. Green Mountain Energy Company in part helped make this possible by donating $140-thousand dollars towards the project.
In time it will save the museum tons of cash.
Art Museum of South Texas Director Joe Schenk says, "really gonna help the museum reduce its carbon footprint, as well as save us some money that we can then use for our programs and exhibitions at the museum."
The art museum of South Texas is the only art museum in a couple-hundred mile radius that's powered in part by a solar system.
