Update: Perkins not in attendance at banquet due to illness

Update: Kendrick Perkins, of the Oklahoma City Thunder, was not in attendance at tonight's banquet at the Compro Events Center.

Perkins' wife tells 12 News HD that a doctor told the basketball player he should rest tonight and that his illness was due to dehydration and being overheated.

The celebrity basketball game that was scheduled Friday afternoon at Ozen High School was canceled earlier today.

A promoter for Oklahoma City Thunder's Kendrick Perkins tells 12 News HD that Perkins was checked out at an area hospital last night, initially thought to be food poisoning.

The NBA star visited the hospital, but was not checked in.
