CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) - Students at Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi are invited to "Run For A Cure." The Rec Sports Department on the campus is sponsoring a "Pink Treadmill" run. It's open to all students, faculty and staff with a membership to the Dugan Wellness Center.
For every mile logged on the treadmill the company who made the machine, Cybex, will donate $0.10 to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
"It's encouraging people to stay active, and showing that exercise can lead to reduction of cancer, certain reduction of breast cancer, says Tony Perez with the TAMUCC Rec Sports Department.
There's also an internal competition to walk or run the most miles on the pink treadmill in the month of October. So far, the leader has put in 30 miles. This is the second year the school has sponsored a "pink run."
