Previous Story:

Southeast Texas convenience stores have seen a noticeable increase in the number of Powerball tickets sold as the jackpot, which has gone nearly two months without a winner, has reached $245 million.

Wednesday's drawing is the ninth-largest jackpot in the history of the game.

According to the Powerball web page, the last winner was on September 14. The winning ticket was purchased at a store in Maryland.  The winner said she won the Powerball because of a store clerk's mistake.   She asked for a regular lottery ticket, but the clerk gave her one for the Powerball.  That ticket won her $25 million.

Some ticket buyers in the area have high hopes for the game.  Ali Samir of the Wizard Quick Stop says at least one customer bought 100 tickets for Wednesday's game.

Watch for the winning numbers tonight at 10 on 12News HD.
