UPDATE: New information about the disposal site fire near George West is coming in. We have leaned the call came in around 6:30 AM Friday after an explosion of a salt water/crude oil mixture.
Once the first tank caught on fire, the flames spread to 9 other tanks. Each one holding about 1,000 barrels of the salt water/crude oil mixture.
The area seems to a disposal site, so there was not a lot of people in the area at the time of the fire. No one was injured as a result of the fire.
An explosion has occurred at the Key Energy Services disposal site near George West Friday morning. The George West and Three Rivers volunteer fire departments are working to put out the fire. There have not been any reports of injuries.
