The Cattery Cat Shelter has been accepted into the ASPCA's National Spay/Neuter Program.
As part of the program, surgery staff will complete training at the ASPCA's headquarters and learn how to effectively operate our clinic. ASPCA staff will be onsite the first week of our clinic to guide us through the opening process. All equipment for the program will be provided by Petsmart Charities. In addition, we have received grants from the ASPCA and the Ed Rachal foundation for start up funds and to lower the cost of spay/neuter surgery for low income families to just $10.
Our clinic will be following the ASPCA's guidelines for a MASH style clinic, which stands for Mobile Animal Surgical Hospital. This means, we will be setting up at different locations 3 days a week, throughout the city where our services are needed most. We may be setting up in places such as community centers, unused office space, churches, etc. Once we are closer to opening, a schedule will be posted.
During the first 6 months of operation, our clinic will focus on cats while we perfect clinic operations. During this time we plan to work on setting up an effective Trap, Neuter, Return program for feral cats. Once that is in place we will add dog surgeries to our program.
