Fatal Hit & Run Suspect Arrested

Posted: Updated:
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

The Corpus Christi Police Department has arrested a suspect wanted for causing a hit and run in February that left a Corpus Christi man dead.

Police say Antonio Alamo, 38, was the driver of a truck that hit and killed Rudy Garcia, 40, back on February 16 along the 200 block of Brownlee.  Garcia was riding his bicycle when he was hit by the truck from behind.

CCPD officers collected evidence from the scene and used trace analysis to identify parts of the vehicle damage.  They called businesses that sold those parts and with some help from the public, the suspect was identified.

On Friday, March 23, 2012, police arrested Alamo and charged him with causing an accident involving personal injury or death.

Alamo is being held in the Nueces County Jail on a $100,000 bond.  He is facing up to 10 years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine.
