ROBSTOWN (Kiii News) -
Police are investigating an aggravated robbery in Robstown after a man pulls a knife on a convenience store clerk. It happened at the Snappy Foods on East Avenue J.
Police believe, around 4:00 AM, the suspect came to the store and knocked on the doors asking to be let in.
At that hour, the doors are normally locked for the clerk's safety. The clerk felt comfortable enough to let the man in and that's when she noticed something was wrong.
"She saw at that time, he was wearing white cloth gloves on his hands. He pulled out a large butcher type knife and thrust and lunged on clerk. He removed cell phone and put it in his pocket and started demanding money from cash register," says Sgt. Enrique Paredez with the Robstown Police Department.
The suspect got away with about $100 cash and a bag full of cigarettes and other tobacco products. Robstown police say the man didn't hurt the clerk, but on the way out, he stabbed at the surveillance camera four times.
