More help is on the way for flood victims in San Patricio County. But, during a meeting Monday morning, County Commissioners said it could be months before the funds are filtered through the county.
The Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs is releasing funds to assist flood victims living in the East end of the county. The only catch is, the application process could take up to nine months.
"I have to ask everybody to be patient. We're moving as fast as we can. This is a lot quicker than it normally would be. We were fortunate we've been advanced by the state to get this process started earlier," says San Patricio County Judge Terry Simpson.
Residents can qualify for special loans and grants based on income. Victims of the flooding can get 0% interest loans for repairs, if their annual income is between $25,000 and $35,000.
Anyone making less, can qualify for grants up to $80,000. For more information call 361-364-9301.
