For some youngsters in Jim Wells County, agriculture was the subject of the day.
A group of 6th and 7th graders from Ben Bolt and Alice got to go on a field trip to the Jim Wells County Fairgrounds for the Agriculture Fair. The idea is to teach the kids why agriculture is so important to everyone.
"We learned a lot about agriculture, how things are grown. Basically how import it is to our part of Texas," says 7th grader Mark Peinado.
"Hopefully if we can get one kid out of a hundred to follow agriculture, then we'll feel like we've done a good job. that's what were all about," says Robert Greer, Director of the Jim Wells County Farm Bureau.
About 900 area students will be participating in the two day event. This is the 8th year for the Ag Fair in Jim Wells County.
