Hooks get win #1,000 for manager Bodie

Posted: Updated:

CORPUS CHRISTI (CC Hooks) - Corpus Christi's Keith Bodie reached a milestone Friday night, collecting the 1,000th regular-season win in his minor league managerial career when the Hooks defeated the Frisco RoughRiders 4-2 at Whataburger Field.

Bodie becomes the third manager to achieve the milestone victory this season in the minors.  The others to reach 1,000 are also managing clubs at the Double-A level, both in the Eastern League.  Trenton's Tony Franklin reached 1,000 victories on April 11, though that total included playoff wins, while Erie's Chris Cron hit the 1,000 mark on April 21.

Now in his 16th season as a minor league manager, Bodie's career record stands at 1,000 wins and 945 losses.  That works out to a .514 winning percentage.  These figures do not include post-season totals.  Eight of Bodie's clubs have qualified for the playoffs.

This season is Bodie's fifth as a manager in the Texas League.  From 2000 through 2003, Bodie managed the Wichita Wranglers to four consecutive post-season appearances.  Counting Friday's win over Frisco, Bodie's regular-season record as a manager in the Texas League stands at 320-267 for a .545 winning percentage.

A special recognition of Bodie's milestone accomplishment is planned for Saturday night when the Hooks host Frisco in game three of their series.  Saturday's game gets under way at 7:05.
