Javelinas safely into NCAA Division-II baseball tournament

KINGSVILLE (Kiii Sports) - The Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas' baseball team was on the their seats Sunday after consecutive losses to start the conference tournament left their future in the NCAA Division-II tourney in serious doubt.

But the Javelinas can exhale after receiving the 5th-seed in the South Central Regional as announced on the NCAA online selection show. A&M-Kingsville will play 2nd-seed St. Mary's (TX) in the first round this Thursday up on the campus of Central Missouri who is also the top seed in the region.

There are six teams total in the region and the tournament will be held in the style of double-elimination. The eight regional winners will move on to NCAA tournament to be held in Cary, NC.

    The Corpus Christi IceRays start their first day of training camp this afternoon at the American Bank Center to prepare themselves for the 2014-15 season, their fifth in the North American Hockey League.
