Some millionaires from Mathis were rolling into Corpus Christi Monday, but these aren't your typical millionaires. In fact, some aren't even out of elementary school yet.
The kids range in age from elementary to high school and are from the Mathis Independent School District. They are part of the Accelerated Reader Millionaire's Club. The 48 members have each read over one million words this school year and their reward was a trip to some of Corpus Christi's best tourist attractions, including the USS Lexington and Texas State Aquarium.
We caught up with them at Barnes and Noble as they got to pick up a book of their choice.
"I like something that always keeps you on the edge of your seat. Like that always keeps you guessing. Like what's going to happen next," says advanced reader, Jaslynn Fields.
This school year, the millionaires have read over 217 million words in almost 71,000 books.
