Police Search for Stolen Inflatable Gorilla

Occurred Sunday, May 20, 2012, 3615 S.P.I.D. Theft

Corpus Christi Police are looking for the individuals that stole a $15,000 inflatable gorilla from a car dealership Sunday afternoon.

The manager of the Sales lot told police that an inflatable gorilla was taken without permission Sunday. The managers saw three people load the inflatable gorilla into a white Chevy Avalanche at about 3:45pm and were last seen on South Padre Island Drive toward Weber.

The gorilla has "Stop N Save" across the chest and is valued at $15,000. Anyone who has any additional information about this crime should call police or call Crime Stoppers at 888-TIPS (8477). Tips can also be placed anonymously online through the Crime Stoppers web site, www.888TIPS.com. The information provided could earn the caller a cash reward.

    Two Edinburg Police Officers are recovering after they were shot Tuesday evening in La Joya as they attempted to serve a capital murder warrant. The suspect in the shooting, 29-year-old Joaquin Cibrian, was shot and killed following an exchange of gunfire with law enforcement. Cibrian was arrested in September of last year in Alice for allegedly using city equipment and materials to make extra cash. He was a city employee at the time.More >>
