It appears 8-liner game rooms are being allowed to operate freely in San Patricio County, with law enforcement not doing anything about it.
That's certainly true in the City of Gregory, which has at least 8 game rooms, and is taking in lots of money from game room operators which the city is using to buy equipment for its police department and to pay off city bills.
Gregory is charging game room operators $1,000 per machine. So far, the city has sold 400 permits this year alone, which means they've taken in $400,000 and the city doesn't see anything wrong with that.
Mike DaSilva was in Gregory on Wednesday and filed this report.
