HOUSTON - A 7-year-old boy who was believed to be missing after his mother was found dead in a bathtub in southwest Houston has been found safe with family members, police said.

Police were called to the home on Cherry Limb Drive and Peach Grove Drive Monday at 3:25 a.m., kicked in the door, and found the woman dead in the tub.

She was fully clothed and her boyfriend, Nathan Mitchell, was sitting in the tub with her.

"Patrol officers responded and found them both in the bathtub. (He was) incoherent. Both were transported," said Roy Swainson with the Houston Police Department. "She was dead on arrival. He was transported and hopefully he can shed some light at what took place out here."

Police said the woman's death was suspicious, but she had no obvious signs of trauma.

She had two sons -- Mekhi Coleman, 7, and an 18-year-old.

"We know that the 7-year-old lives here. He is not here in the house so I think it's important that we find out where that child is," Swainson said.

Police said the boy was with relatives and found a few hours later.

Neighbors were shocked at the death.

"I heard some commotion this morning early around 12:30 or 1 a.m., and I was going to look out. I wish I did," neighbor Beth Paquio said.

An autopsy will determine the cause of death.

The woman's name was not released. Officials said she and Mitchell had been dating for about 9 months.
