Middle School Students Honor Classmate

CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -

Some local middle school students continue their efforts to keep organ donation on the minds of many.

Wednesday, the young men and women donated a beautiful white bench to Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital.  It will eventually sit in the shadows of the donor flag pole, which is raised each time someone makes the life-saving decision to donate their organs.

The students have had organ donation on their minds ever since their classmate, Katherine Marsh, 12, passed away.

Katie, a Baker Middle School student, was an organ donor and her passing gave the gift of life to five other people.

"We always thought we should help people and everyone thought with different things, but we thought, bench, because it supports people," said Lucas Weddle.

The students and the hospital hope the bench, which is full of thoughtful messages, will provide a comforting place for people to pray and reflect on the life-saving saving decision of organ donation.
