CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
It's been hot and dry, but apparently not dry enough to ban aerial fireworks in the unincorporated areas of Nueces County.
That should make the fireworks businesses extremely pleased come this July 4th holiday. Commissioners were told drought conditions are apparently 100 points below the required level or index to order a burn ban. The index is used to measure a potential for fire.
The commissioners had to make a decision on whether to ban fireworks by June 15, but since they don't have a meeting until after that, the ban item was placed on this week's agenda.
The drought was so bad last year, commissioners banned all fireworks in the county for every holiday last year.
