An Alice man is accused of sexually assaulting his 9-year old nephew and 11-year old niece. Anthony Rene Perez, 25, is charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault, after being arrested Tuesday night.
The Alice Police Department says a joint investigation has been underway for weeks between the FBI and Texas Rangers. Authorities confiscated a phone, computer and thumb drive after searching Perez's home.
"We've got to understand that it's not someone that's passing through your community or city, that abuses children. In this form or fashion, it is someone that the children trust, so therefore it is imperative that we as parents communicate with our children and talk to them about a good touch, a bad touch or anything that might be uncomfortable for them," says Alice Police Chief Daniel Bueno.
Perez is out on two $50,000 bonds.
