FROM THE CORPUS CHRISTI POLICE DEPARTMENT -
Occurred on 6/13/12, 3:23 am Theft of Firearm/Unlawful Possession of a Firearm Winnebago Street/Port Avenue
An Officer driving on northbound on Port Avenue observed a male walking in the middle of the roadway and stopped to talk to him. The male took off running as the Officer was getting out of his police car. A short pursuit ensued which ended when Laclyde Ramsey, 18, stumbled and fell. The Officer quickly grabbed Ramsey who kept on struggling to get away. Ramsey kept reaching for his pants pocket as he was being handcuffed. Officers found a loaded firearm in his pocket.
Further investigation revealed, the weapon was reported stolen in a burglary. Ramsey was arrested and charged with Evading Arrest, Resisting Arrest, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, and Theft of a Firearm.
