Summer Program to Prepare Math and Science Teachers
CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) -
More than 300 dedicated math and science teachers are spending part of their summer break learning new skills for the classroom at the ME by the SEa Conference at Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi.
The ME stands for math education, and the SE stands for science education.
This annual conference, held at TAMUCC, helps teachers from all over the Coastal Bend learn better practices for teaching students, ages pre-kinder to college.
"I think they feel like it's important to make classes engaging for students, but still teach the content that they need to know for math and science," said Faye Bruun, assistant professor at TAMUCC.
Friday's more than forty breakout sessions included lessons like, how to use colorful children's books to aid in math teaching, and how to use graphing calculators to graph a person's movement.
